As the Graphic Designer and Program Coordinator<\/strong> for the City of Pompano Beach, one of my first observations was the need to refresh and modernize the department\u2019s visual identity. The existing graphic line had been in use for nearly eight years and relied on a rigid template: an image split into two halves\u2014one for event photography and the other a solid block containing event information and logos. Over time, as new formats and digital requirements emerged, the design had been repeatedly stretched and forced to adapt, resulting in inconsistencies and a dated appearance.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

At the same time, the department sought to strengthen its brand presence by incorporating its color palette more effectively and developing a cohesive, recognizable visual language. Drawing inspiration from a recently commissioned public art piece\u2014a vibrant, geometric pedestrian crosswalk\u2014I explored geometry and Bauhaus-inspired design<\/strong> as a way to introduce color and structure into our graphics. This approach allowed the imagery of our events, artists, and performances to remain the focal point, while the department\u2019s branding subtly framed the content with a distinct, yet understated, visual signature.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t

The redesign process included the creation of a comprehensive brand guide<\/strong> outlining the new visual system, including design principles, color usage, and layout rules. From there, I led the revamp of graphics across all programs<\/strong>, updating existing event materials and developing visual assets for upcoming initiatives.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The result was a fresh, cohesive identity<\/strong> that elevated the city\u2019s cultural programming and significantly improved audience engagement. Our social media platforms saw increased follower growth and interaction, as audiences responded more positively to dynamic visuals rather than repetitive, templated designs.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
